Janice Dzigiel is one of three leaders honored at luncheonSTC Executive Director Janice Dzigiel was honored with a McGregor Inspire Award at its annual luncheon Friday, Sept. 30. The sold out women's event was held at Cleveland Downtown Marriott at Key Center. Keynote was motivational speaker Jessica Cox, who appeared at the 40th Cleveland International Film Festival: “Right Footed”. The program included speaker book signings, panel discussions, workshops, networking and exhibitors. The focus is to empower women through knowledge and education on issues relating to families, personal growth, professional development and leadership. In accepting the award, Janice remarked, "I am truly honored to be chosen as a woman who inspires. Amazing women in my life have inspired me: my grandmothers, my mother, my professional colleagues. There have been many mentors who encouraged me to grow personally and professionally. I have been fortunate to work in the field of aging for over 30 years now, and feel privileged to call it my vocation." She observed that women live on average 10 years past their decision to stop driving. This is about three years longer than men, according to AARP. It is no surprise that most STC passengers are women. Janice's remarks challenged the audience."What will you do? How will you get to the doctor’s next week? What about the grocery store, and the post office? Church? Will you call your children? your grandchildren? Your neighbor? This is a long time to depend on favors from friends and relatives." She is honored to lead an organization that offers a solution for thousands of Cuyahoga County senior adults. Thank you McGregor, a local leader in the experience of aging. Its mission is to enable seniors to age successfully in a place they call home, and to ensure for seniors the highest standards of personal dignity, respect, quality of life and compassion.
